Family Photoshoot Fun At Ashridge Estate

Since becoming a dad, I’m very rarely found without a camera in my hand. I sometimes like to think that I’m a professional photographer, but the truth is that I’m no David Bailey.

Still, that hasn’t curbed my enthusiasm for snapping anything and everything Baby L related. As she seems to change on an almost hourly basis, I’ve taken it upon myself to capture her ever growing cuteness. A tough job, I know.

Sometimes though, it’s a good idea to hand over the responsibility to the professionals, like we did for Baby L’s newborn shoot when she was just 10 days old. Not only does it ensure superior quality snaps to my amateur at best attempts, but also means that all of the family can feature in the photos.

With this in mind, the missus had been looking to book a surprise family photoshoot for my impending 30th birthday, however I’d heard that uber talented photographer and blogger Hayley from Shutterflies was looking for some families to take part in a couple of photoshoots. I put our names forward and was delighted that she agreed to pap my beautiful family…and my ugly mug.

So, on Friday morning we agreed to meet up at Ashridge Estate and let Hayley (photographer, not missus) do her thing. We started out with a few staged photos of the family before moving on to some more natural ones of us playing with and talking to Baby L. We then moved over to another spot where she took some great photos of Baby L sitting on a rug, before Dax got jealous and wanted to join in. Next, we headed over to some felled trees which gave a nice backdrop, prior to being papped on a wooden bridge. Finally, we headed back to Ashridge Monument for some photos of the missus and I.

Despite not being the most photogenic of people, somehow Hayley managed to make us look good, which is a hell of an achievement. This is probably down to her relaxed and quirky style which put us at ease and almost made us forget the camera. She captured some amazing photos of us as a family which we’re so chuffed to own. If you’re in the Beds, Bucks or Herts area and are on the hunt for a photographer, then give Hayley a shout. We thoroughly enjoyed the photoshoot and the snaps speak for themselves. You can get in touch with Hayley via her Shutterflies blog, on Facebook or on Twitter.

N.B. The photoshoot and photos were complimentary, however there was no expectation to write a post or share details – I chose to do this because we enjoyed the experience and are really happy with the results.
