Review & Giveaway: Win 4 Boxes Of Fruit Heroes Natural Fruit Snack Bars

At just over six months into Baby L’s weaning journey, we’re always on the lookout for new food products which are tasty, healthy and convenient for our little one. Step forward Fruit Heroes, a healthy fruit based bar, with no added sugar, which can be eaten as a snack in-between meals or used to make fun recipes and can count towards one of their five a day.

The sprog has been eating these for the past few weeks and loves them – we’ve therefore teamed up with the number one lunchbox snack in its native Denmark to offer two readers the chance to each win four boxes of the natural, healthy and delicious fruit based snack bars. You can enter the giveaway below.

We were sent a box of each of the four Fruit Heroes flavours – Strawberry, Blackcurrant, Banana and Apple & Raspberry – and quickly set about trying them (both Baby L and me!). Having looked at the back of the boxes, I was impressed with all of the claims being made. The bars are only made from natural ingredients, they count as one of your “five a day” and contain no added nasties (no added sugar, no added colourings, no added preservatives and no sulphur dioxide). In addition, they haven’t been cooked or baked, contain naturally high fibre content and have no gluten or dairy which is key for kids with dietary requirements.

Within each multi-pack box, there are five single 20g bars. We found that this was a great size for a baby / toddler snack in-between meals, plus the fact they are individual wrapped made them a good option when we were out. Baby L is like a little gannet these days, so having something quick, convenient and tasty is a must to keep up her energy levels and stave off any impending hunger pangs which unleashes a cute, but moody beast.

The bars – which are available from Tesco, Holland & Barrett and Amazon – were also very easy for the sprog to eat, chew and feed herself. We introduced Baby L to baby-led weaning at around six months, so she’s quickly developed the skills to place food in her own mouth and deal with solids. As a result she had no problems with these. The bars are quite thin, which means they can be torn apart or have bits chewed off, whilst her four teeth made easy work of the chewy texture.

The little one didn’t seem to have a preference when it came to the four flavours – she liked them all. As she’s a big banana fan, I thought that this might be her favourite, but she wolfed them all down without batting an eyelid. The dad taste test though put the strawberry ones as the winners – again, all were nice and definitely edible, albeit a touch on the sweet side (although it’s important to remember they are natural sugars and none are added).

All in all, the sprog has really enjoyed the Fruit Heroes bars and we are happy knowing that they are healthy, natural and full of goodness. As an aside, with so many questions surrounding the diets of kids, you might be interested in watching Dr Sarah Schenker discuss this topic and answer the biggest concerns parents have around food on the Fruit Heroes YouTube channel.
